Overview

A grade category in the Moodle gradebook is a collection of grade items. Grade categories are a way to keep your gradebook organized and are especially useful if you wish to assign a weight to each category (ex. exams = 35%, discussion forums = 10%, research paper = 20%, and presentations = 35%).

Note:  When using category weighting, all of the assignments within a category must total 100 when totaled.  If no weight is entered, Moodle will provide an average.
