Catherine’s Cupboard is a FREE food pantry on campus designed to serve Trocaire students and staff who experience food insecurity.

The pantry is named after Sisters of Mercy foundress Catherine McAuley and provides non-perishable food items to students for immediate use or to take home for their families. Toiletries and personal supplies like toothbrushes, feminine hygiene items, diapers, and shampoo are also available. All are provided freely and discretely to any student or employee who needs them. Information regarding additional community resources and/or social services is also made available through the pantry. Verification of current enrollment or employment at Trocaire College is the only requirement to access the pantry.

Food insecurity is the lack of reliable access to sufficient quantities of affordable, nutritious food. National research has revealed that food insecurity is common among students at colleges and universities across the United States. In the spirit of our mission as a Catholic and Mercy institution called to address the unmet needs of our students and society alike, Catherine’s Cupboard represents one key effort by the college, among others, to address the needs of our students and staff. The aim of Catherine’s Cupboard is to put an end to food insecurity, help our students/staff attain an active and healthy lifestyle, and ultimately, to aid and support student success, the overarching goal of the College.

All questions concerning Catherine’s Cupboard can be directed to Sister Marie André Main RSM, Coordinator of Catherine’s Cupboard. She can be reached at 716-827-2514, or via email: [email protected]
