Academic Amnesty

Academic Amnesty is designed to provide former students an opportunity to return to Trocaire College after an absence of two full semesters without the burden of past academic difficulties. By this provision, if approved, the student will be asked to select the specific courses at Trocaire College not to be counted toward credit requirements or the cumulative grade point average (GPA). Amnesty will not apply to course grades of C or higher. If Amnesty is approved, the student must complete at least six credit hours with a minimum of a 2.0 GPA before Amnesty will be applied to former grades. Academic amnesty may be granted only once.

Please note: students may request to re-enter programs from which they were previously academically dismissed, although program policies may prevent this. Students are advised to review the readmission policies of the program to which they wish to return.

Reason Requested: Please explain why you are making this request. To be considered, the application must include:

A) A listing of the courses for which Amnesty is being requested.*

B) A formal written statement with an explanation for the cause of the academic difficulty and steps taken to resolve the situation. In lieu of a written statement, you may include an academic action plan developed in collaboration and signed off by the Director of Advisement, who will approve the Academic Action Plan.

Note; Based on your application, you may be asked to complete an Academic Action Plan as a second step. The Advisement and Student Services Center advisors will follow up with you as needed.
